Stay compliant with the vacuum extraction services from ACS Cleaning
PROBLEM
A customers contacted us as production had come to a holt due to them being unable to extract raw material from their silo. Through our investigatory questions we were able to quickly diagnose the problem despite the client being situated at opposite ends of the country to our team.
It became clear that despite the product had hardened approximately halfway up the silo, causing a bridge. The bridge forms a solid barrier preventing the product from flowing and the silo functioning as intended.
Prior to all works taking place our Operations Manager produces site specific Risk Assessments & a Method Statement, sent to the client in advance of our arrival. Debriefed on sites requirements, our team were deployed.
With the use of our industrial vacuum unit, our team safely entered the silo and manually broke the product up, removing it via vacuum extraction from the top hatch. Once the bridge was reached the team were able create a well, sending the material down the silo. Allowing production to recommence.
The product removed was stored in one ton bulk bags. On this occasion the client managed the waste product themselves, sending it for anaerobic digestion. This meant that the client was able to recoup some of the cost of the work against the waste material.
The issues this client faced are a common problem within this industry, particularly in the warm summer months or when the product holds a high moisture content.
Although we appreciate it isn’t always ideal to have down time to facility the cleaning of your silos. However, in our experience, addressing the root cause by carrying out effective, regular hygiene, prevents sudden disruptions to production.
“ACS have been good on site with a large Wheatfeed bin dug down and then sucked out of the top of the bin with a vacc tanker and dropped into tote bags. They certainly have the capability to do tough bin clean jobs where the product (in this case warm Wheatfeed) has turned to rock.”
If you have experienced a reduction in flow of material being discharged from your silo, or if you want to maintain the efficiency preventing potential disruptions, please call us for some no obligation advice. We are more than happy to talk you through our process & the benefits allowing you to decide what works best for your facility.
